What are Harvest Hosts?

People who drive an RV know that it can be a very rewarding experience, but sometimes it seems the RV traveling lifestyle can make it hard for people to stop in a place that makes them feel like they are home. This is the reason why Harvest hosts was invented. A network of farms and wineries have decided to start allowing people in RV vehicles to camp out in their lands, but they will also be given the chance to get to see their production up close and their stay will come at no cost at all!

The great thing about Harvest Hosts is that it allows people to get the opportunity to purchase local products that are grown or produced in the area. The idea is to provide the RV community with a friendly place to stay for a few days, while they also get the chance to watch up close when the farmers get to work or the wineries start to produce their wine.

This brilliant idea is meant to help people feel encouraged to purchase local products from the locations they visit. This is the main reason why this is such a great and innovative idea that will benefit both parties involved.

The only true requirements are that you are considerate and you support your hosts by purchasing their products. There is no required amount for you to purchase, but the more you buy, the more you will be supporting the people who work so hard day by day to create these products for you.

Being able to participate in the making of these products is another excellent activity that is provided in all farms and wineries that are affiliated with harvest hosts. This is the kind of activity that makes you appreciate the products and services that are provided to you even more. This is the reason why this interaction is so useful and also encourages the promotion of the quality products you try out. Keep this in mind at all times and you will have the best time when you decide to park your RV in one of the many gorgeous farms and wineries of the Harvest Hosts network.

Most of them even allow you to have pets with you, with the exception of alpaca farms. The one thing that all RV owners need to remember is that in order to qualify to be allowed to enter the Harvest Hosts network as an RV guest, you need to have a self-contained vehicle. This means that you RV needs to be equipped with an interior toilet and it should also have electricity and water. This means that all of your personal needs will always be taken care of in your RV and not in any of the installations at which you are staying.

The stay is meant to last 24 hours tops, but people can ask to stay longer and the chances of that happening will depend on how supportive you have been to the host. Any special requests will be dealt with directly with your host. Once you join the network, you will be able to get a list of all the hosts that are in your area or the area you are planning to travel to. This makes it very easy for you to find at least a couple of them near to your traveling locations.

If you decide to travel with another set of people in a different RV, they will also have to be members of the Harvest Hosts network in order to be given access to the farms or wineries that they visit with you.

Visit harvesthosts.com for more membership info!

How Does An Airplane Engine Work?

How Does An Airplane Engine Work?

From the initial theories of Sir Isaac Newtown, to the extraordinary achievements of Sir Frank Whittle, the jet engines that power airplanes have seen a great deal of evolution. When it comes to finding out how an airplane engine works, you are going to want to focus your attention on learning more about jet engines.

You’ll find these engines like Concorde and jumbo jets. Explained simply, a jet engine works by sucking in the air that comes through the front, and then releasing blistering exhaust gases through its back. However, there is a great deal more to the jet engine that is worth studying.

How Airplane Engines Work

As you can probably imagine, jet engines are considerably more complex than the definition presented above. However, if you are interested in the most straightforward understanding of airplane engines and jet engines possible, you’ll want to note the following:

·         The jet engine is something that transforms fuel into thrust, which is also known as forward motion. Action and reaction are the things that make this thrust possible. Force (or action) involves exhaust gases pushing backwards, which creates the equal/opposite force (reaction) of the thrust. Think of the way kicking backwards with your foot can push a skateboard forward.

·         Assuming the jet is going slower than the speed of sound (it is), the engine is traveling through the air at the speed of roughly six hundred miles per hour.

·         The jet engine comes with a number of essential components. The parts of the engine include the fan, the compressor, the combustor, the turbine, and the nozzle. The fuel tank is also obviously an essential part of all this, as the kerosene moves into the engine from the tank. Each part is naturally crucial. For example, as the engine’s exhaust duct, the nozzle is actually responsible for producing the plane’s thrust. The fan, which you can find at the front, is responsible for sucking in all of the cold air into engines.

·         There are several different types of jet engines. These include the turbojet engine, the turboprop engine, the turbofan engine, the turboshaft engine, and then there are ramjets. There is also a type of jet engine known as the scramjet. The turbojet was the original design from Whittle, and it can actually be found in many of the airplanes that are flown to this day.

All of these facts represent just a sampling of what you can learn about airplane engines.

How To Properly Store Your RV

RVs or “recreational vehicles” are a type of vehicle that can be used for many purposes including travelling, camping and even living. RVs today come in various shapes and sizes and with different types of features. It is up to the user to decide what type of RV they need. Although each RV is different, the fact is that they do have certain things in common.

For example, users need to take care of the maintenance regularly and in compliance with the user manual. In addition, RV owners need to take of the storage too. That’s right, even those who live in an RV occasionally need to leave their motorhome for a few days.

Storing an RV is not a difficult task, but only if you follow these preparation tips. By following these tips you can be sure that your RV will be as good as new once you start using it again.

Take care of the ventilation
The ventilation system in the RV is not important only for the people inside the vehicle. When the vehicle is stored it is crucial to keep the moisture outside. If moisture is present inside the vehicle, it can lead to occurrence of smell, mildew and mold. According to some experts, the best idea is to keep only the rooftop vents open. Everything else should be covered.

Check and clean the seals
You should never store your RV if it isn’t clean. Wash the entire vehicle both inside and outside and use wax if possible. If you use wax you won’t have to spend hours cleaning the vehicle once it is time to use it again and it can protect the paint from sun, snow and rain. After that, check all the seals and see if any seal needs a replacement or repair.

Curtains
When it comes to curtains and blinds, people usually make the same mistake and choose curtains that are very dark and don’t let any sunlight inside the vehicle. This is wrong because if there is no light present inside the RV, there is a great chance to find mold after few months. Use curtains that allow sunrays to penetrate the interior to some extent.

Bug protection
If the vehicle is inactive, it can become the perfect spot for bugs. They can dwell inside the vehicle or in the vents. Make sure that all the openings are blocked and don’t hesitate to use screening for the vents. Of course, you should also remove all foods and materials (paper or clothes for example) that can be used by bugs.

Cleaning the tanks
This is very important in case you are storing your RV during winter time. Tanks should be cleaned regardless of the temperature and the plumbing system should be left without water if the weather is cold.

Security
As we all know, RVs are very expensive vehicles, so it is no surprise why criminals are tempted to break inside. The best way to protect the vehicle is to have someone watch it onsite. You can also get a dog to protect it. Finally, consider installing an alarm inside the RV.

We hope that these tips will help you store your RV the right way!

Top 5 Sweetest Yachts Ever Made

There are many different amazing yacht models out there that have been designed with all kinds of elegant and extravagant looks. We have decided to come up with a top 5 of the sweetest looking yachts ever made and not only are they gorgeous, but also very expensive. Our list focuses on looks, but those looks are always worth a lot of money. With that being said, here is a list of 5 yachts that we considered to be the sweetest yachts of ALL TIME.. for all kinds of different reasons.

1.   The Superyacht A
Nothing screams success quite like owning a very sweet looking and one of a kind yacht that is worth over 300 million dollars. Yes, you read that right, Three Hundred Million Dollars. This yacht belongs to Russian billionaires Andrey and Aleksandra Melnichenko. It looks like some kind of futuristic yacht made for a sci-fi movie. There is nothing quite like it out there in terms of design. It does follow the standard looks that a yacht would have, but once you see it, you will understand why we think it’s such a sweet yacht.

2.   The History Supreme

This is the sweetest of all yachts that exist in this world. Yes. It’s a slick, futuristic and elegant yacht that will make you feel completely at home, but the main reason why it takes the first spot is that it has been made with over 220,000 pounds of gold and platinum. Yes, the boat is made with enough gold to make it worth 4.5 billion dollars. You can’t get any sweeter than that.

3.   The World Is Not Enough
This is an incredible Yacht that is not only part of this list because of the sick design, but because of how fast it can go. This beauty is able to reach 70 knots of speed, which equals nearly 130kmph. This is not even close to the cost of the yachts that we mentioned earlier, but this is the list of the sweetest yachts and the reasons why they are in the list are quite different. This is the ultimate 007 yacht and it will take you to your destination faster than any yacht on the market.

4.   The Alfa Nero

The slick and smooth exterior of the Alfa Nero is more than enough of a good reason for us to include it in this list. This is still considered by many to be the most beautiful yacht that is currently navigating the seas and there is no way to deny its’ beauty when you see it and when you set foot. The name of the yacht is also pretty sweet and if you name your yacht Alfa Nero, it better be a really good looking yacht.

5.The Pelorus

When you create an organic look with very unique styles for a superyacht, you get the Pelorus. This is an incredibly popular yacht that has been given praise by yacht designers all over the world. The way it was built reflects the attention to detail that was given when every single section of this yacht was made.

There you have it. Those are the five top pics we found for the sweetest yachts ever made. This list has yachts that made it because they were made with gold, others because of their speed and in some cases the slick design was enough to get them listed. Regardless of the reason, these are all yachts that are far from common and definitely very attractive to anyone who gets a chance to see them.

What Is A "Green RV"?

In the last decade there has been a large and rather effective movement that has made waves across the globe. This movement is known as “going green”. Essentially, it involves being more eco-friendly and living a more sustainable life. Vehicles, especially larger ones, like RVs, are part of problem because their emissions are bad for the climate. Well, as with everything else that has become more eco-friendly, you can now find more manufacturers of RVs that are making them “green”. If you are looking to get an RV for road trips, look into getting a green one, that way you can enjoy your road trip without feeling guilty about the pollution.

So what is a green RV exactly? For starters, a green RV has the same skeleton as a regular RV; it just is made up of more sustainable materials. This means that the actual process of making the RV is a lot more energy efficient than it would be to make a non green RV. Some green RVs have mattresses that are made from recycled water bottles and the wood used inside is sustainable and comes from trees that are not harmed in the process of taking the wood.

Also, the vehicle itself runs more efficiently and saves more energy than an RV of an ordinary make. Because it uses most recycled or sustainable materials, they do not have to use so much energy and fossil fuels to create the vehicle from scratch. Green RVs are also more fuel-efficient that those that are not green. Some of the manufacturers of green RVs will tint all the windows in the vehicle, sun roof included, to allow for less sunlight into the vehicle which means running the air conditioning fewer times than you would without the tint.
All in all, if you are a traveling green friendly person who loves to own and operate eco-friendly products and vehicles, buying yourself a green RV is definitely the way to go. You can travel the nation with your family and not have to worry about driving in a vehicle that was damaging to the environment to make.

Not only that, but you can feel better about driving it because you are not putting more nasty emissions out into the environment on the day to day. Being eco-friendly can be achieved in almost all areas of your life. Just take the time to find the best green RV that fits you and your needs, and pretty soon, you will be out on the open road, guilt free and ready for fun.

Redefining The Supercar [The New Ford GT]

Put simply, the new Ford GT is insane. It is at least a year away from production and at least a year and a half or two away from being seen on the road. But it has already started to create a sort of frenzy that its’ supercar competitors can only envy right now.

The Ford GT is still in development so there could be some substantial changes in what Ford eventually rolls out with. But considering the promises made by the CEO, the 2017 Ford GT is going to be a game changer and it may just redefine supercars.

The Ford GT is going to roll out with an all carbon-fiber body and all hand-laid. Before you imagine spaceships and airplanes, the carbon-fiber has been manufactured in-house and it costs less than the carbon fiber used in avionics. So any concern about skyrocketing prices can be endured for now, although the wild yet sophisticated vehicle will end up being an expensive purchase.

Ford is trying to achieve a power to weight ratio in the Ford GT that will beat any car in the world, regardless of its class. This is possibly the first time a chief engineer of an auto major, Jamal Hameedi, has gone on record to make this claim. The caveat of in its class has always been thrown around by most automakers. Wheels of change anyone?

While 600 horsepower does sound promising, what is rather quaint is the set of standard aluminum wheels that Ford GT was sporting when displayed in Detroit a few months back. But Ford is contemplating on having lightweight carbon fiber wheels. Given the fact that it is supposedly going to be the car with the best power to weight ratio on the market, carbon fiber should have been the natural choice in the first place.

But one cannot complain, not with a car that that is loaded with twenty eight processors and ten million lines of code. There is no dearth of cool features that make the 2017 Ford GT almost magical. There is an airbrake function, the wing can tilt and rise vertically, the horizontal surface can angle upward and can also drag whenever necessary.

Active suspension that allows the GT to have its front end lifted when driving over speed humps and on ramps and the car gets lowered when it is being driven at top speeds. That assures stability and improves aerodynamics.

The Ford GT is loaded with goodies and is capable of more tricks than you can imagine right now!

Super Cars, Super Heroes, Super Clean Detail :)

Brought to you by your good friends at gAuto

The 2015 Pagani Huayra

Pagani Automobili is an Italian car manufacturer and created the Huayra series to take after the “Zonda”.  Named after an Incan “God of the winds,” Pagani Huayra is a fitting name for its aerodynamics and outerworldly features.  Being a sports car, the 2015 Pagani Huayra is a C9 machine that can go up to 230 miles per hour and boasts unique nose that can outperform countless vehicles in high performance speed.

The Huayra also features a newer style that accommodates LED daytime lamps that run continuously as well as an aerodynamic design which includes two large flaps that conform to the current speeds.  With the superb acceleration design, the Huayra can go from zero to 62 miles per hour in a little over 3 seconds, an astonishing feat for any car.  A twin-turbocharged V12 engine offers 700 horsepower for the driver and a great demonstration for any spectators.  The power goes to the wheels using a heavy gearbox which weighs 211 pounds, yet gives the necessary fuel for the car to maintain its’ high racing speeds.

Pagani constructed the Huayra with a slightly increased weight distribution at the rear of the car, which allows the vehicle to rocket through the air with unbelievable ease. For sports car fanatics, the Huayra serves all status display purposes, as well as a keen love for speed.  The fuel is intended to be premium, as exquisite as the car is and the tank will hold 22 gallons.  Developing a love for this car is inevitable with its 7-speed automatic transmission and it also releases less for a better carbon footprint; CO2 emissions are something you do not have to worry about when you buy this car.

The Huayra is a work of art, especially with its 4000 parts (excludes engine and gearbox) that make its superb abilities possible.  Having the entire vehicle intelligently shaped as a car and a lightweight engine are just a few perks of having such a sweet ride.  An important component is also the firm grip that is granted to the driver and allows little risk of rolling and increased friction facilities for safety and control maintenance.  This was a significant alteration because such cars with more weight at the rear often have accidents from the lesser weight at the front which can many times cause rolling incidents.  Some designs were taken from the Zonda for better development, since the former was already a well-established model.

How to Get Your Motorcycle License

So you just got a motorcycle and cannot wait to take it for a ride through town, but first you should probably get your motorcycle license.

Luckily getting your motorcycle license is not all that hard and if you have a motorcycle or are thinking about getting one then you have most likely already considered getting a license. You may also have found out that it is required in every state that you have a Class M motorcycle license before you can operate your motorcycle.

The reason it is so important to get your license is to establish your comfort level with your bike and to make sure that you understand the rules of the road when you are on your motorcycle. You want to be as comfortable as possible with your motorcycle and to understand how to react in various situations that you may encounter.

When you are on your motorcycle it is simple fact that you are at a higher risk of being in a fatal crash than individuals in a car. Also keep in mind that about a quarter of motorcycle accidents involve cyclists with invalid licenses. So you can see how important it is to be prepared and comfortable when on your motorcycle.

To get your motorcycle license there are a variety of steps that you must go through and they vary somewhat from state to state but the basics are the same. For example if you are less than 18 years old you usually have to get a motorcycle permit just like you would if you were driving a car. You must be at least 15-16, complete a driver’s education course, pass the written motorcycle exam, and pass the vision screening.

These steps are just like they would be for someone getting their first driver’s license for their car. The next stage is the license stage and you generally have to be at least 16 years old but it differs state to state and in some states you only have to be 14. You must also pass a vision screening and complete a motorcycle safety course or in some states you just have to pass a motorcycle road test and knowledge exam.

As each state is different one of your first stops should be to your state’s official government website to find out what is exactly required of you in order to receive your motorcycle license.

Why Motorcycle Safety Courses Are A Must

Riding a motorcycle is a thrilling experience. It is the perfect embodiment of freedom and pure adrenaline, and a large number of people riding bikes show that this lifestyle is much appreciated. Still, riding a bike implies much more risks than when driving a car. You need to wear high-quality safety equipment and always keep an eye on the traffic around you. And even so, the risks are considerably high in the case of an accident. The biker is extremely exposed to a set of factors, like hitting the road, high speeds, wreck debris and failing protective equipment. Because most motorcycle accidents have severe consequences, it is best always to ride with caution and know the safety measures, in order to best avoid them.

Unfortunately, not having any other protection that the special clothes and a helmet, motorcycle riders usually face severe injuries and even death. Even with the protective equipment and traveling at low speeds, you can still suffer internal injuries and broken bones, which require urgent medical attention and an extended recovery period. The mere impact with the asphalt of the road at cruising speed can easily damage your protection, not to mention that you can hit wreck debris, the motorcycle or other vehicles may hit you, or you can hit objects in the background. It is not an easy thing to be a motorcycle rider, no matter how great the feeling is.
You should never rely on others, only using your training and experience to
guide you. Very many traffic participants do not pay the proper attention and may easily hit you or cause an accident in which you are involved. So it is better to know how to avoid such unwanted situations, which means it is crucial to undertake a motorcycle safety course, before heading out on the road. Remember that not only your well-being is at stake, but also your life in many cases, so do not disregard the importance of a safety course. Motor biking should be a pleasant activity, so do not subject yourself to unnecessary risks and do opt to take a motorcycle safety course.

As you may have noticed, many of the motorcycle riders that are involved in accidents are called lucky if they only need to be hospitalized for a certain period. Some of them end up in a wheel chair or without a limb. The worst case scenarios are when they are killed instantly, due to the conditions of the accident. So what should be a great passion, can turn into a tragic turn of fate. The roads are not a safe place, no matter what you are driving. Only that car drivers still have the body of the car to protect them, airbags and safety belts.

The motorcycle rider has to rely only on proper training in safety measures while riding. It is the best thing you can do if you choose to ride a bike since it can prove to be the difference between life and death. Do not take motorcycle accidents lightly, because life is too beautiful to end in such a brutal way. We hope that all of you new riders understand the weight of this information, and make a decision to #RideSafe.

How to Plan a Cross Country RV Trip

There are few vacations as enjoyable as one taken with the family in a Recreational Vehicle (RV). The main advantage is that you are basically taking your living quarters with you wherever you go, so no hotel fees, check-ins or worries about where you are going to spend the night. But of course, in order to make the most of your trip, you’ll need to do a little planning first.

Choose a Destination

The first step in your planning is choosing where you want to go. While the joy from an RV trip most often comes from the unexpected and unplanned moments that occur along the way, you still need to have a single destination in mind. So, if you are on a weekend trip, pick something that is local and interesting while a week-long vacation or longer should have a destination that can be reached about halfway to two-thirds into the time you have allocated for the trip.

Everyone will want to head straight home after you have visited the selected destination, but before it is reached you should set aside time to do a little exploring which is always part of the fun!

Map it Out

Now that you know where you are going, you’ll want to map out how to get there. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy when using online maps that plot the destination point for you. However, you’ll want to modify them somewhat by adding excursions that are off the main interstates and feature local attractions.

Set a Budget

Once you know where you want to go, the next step is creating a realistic budget. Naturally, you will need to account for RV rental fee (if you don’t own one), fuel, money for the events and food. However, you can save on food costs by cooking your own meals, although going to a restaurant or two along the way makes for a nice break.

Choose the Right RV

If you are renting an RV, you will need to strike the balance between having one that is large enough to carry your family, yet small enough to be maneuverable and use less gas. One option is to tow your vehicle behind the RV if it is a small car so that you can park at the RV sites. However, this will add a considerable amount to your trip.

For three or four people total, a standard size RV is the best and you should check out all the options first before making your rental agreement.

Leave Most of the Trip Unplanned

The real fun in an RV adventure is the spontaneous moments where you discover hidden locations and events along the way. While you should stick to your main destination, finding the little places of interest along the way adds real joy to the trip itself.

In fact, you should only use interstate highways when needed as many of the back roads lead to wonderful places.

Remember to stick to your budget and have emergency money available in case something unforeseen occurs. A little planning will go a long way towards making your RV trip one to remember.
