How To Detail An RV - Inside And Out

Owning an RV and using it to scour the country is one of the most impressive experiences we can live, however we do need to maintain and detail our vehicle if we want it to work properly in the long run. So follow along as we show you how to detail your RV the right way!

Exterior Detailing

1. Pressure wash the roof

The best way to start detailing your RV is from the outside. You will first need to pressure wash the roof. But as a word of warning, if your RV has aged many years you should to avoid having too much pressure, as this can easily damage your vehicle since the roof is directly exposed to sun and it can become brittle over time, so be gentler and avoid bringing too much pressure at once.

2. Clean the side

Use a special spraying formula and combine it with foam. Once the foam is placed on the side of the vehicle, use a good, high quality brush that will allow you to rinse the dirt off. The foam will remove all dirt so you will have a much cleaner RV in the end. Remove the water with a special towel, which won’t remove or damage the paint, this is very important to keep the RV in great condition.

3. Waxing

You need to get a dual action polisher and a good quality wax. Shake the wax and place it onto the pad then push it in a little bit. Start with a lower speed, but don’t turn the tool on until it’s placed directly onto the RV. Also, don’t lift it until it’s finished. Try to do this to the whole RV and take your time, it’s a time consuming but very important step when it comes to detailing your RV.
Aside from the single step approach we mentioned, if you want a more professional looking job you can also opt for the 3-step approach which allows you to use 3 different types of wax, the one that helps remove dirt, one that brings an intermediary layer and the last one which is set to provide your RV with that nice shine you want.

4. Clean the tires

You will need a special type of wax created for the engine which will enable you to restore the dark color to you tires. Put it on the sponge, spread it with your finger and then apply it directly on the tire. Spread the solution on the tire with your sponge. You need to put a second coat if you want an even darker look.

5. Restore shine to the wheels

The aluminum wheels will oxidize, and because of that you have to remove this oxidation with the help of a polishing solution, a dedicated polishing system and your own drill.

Those are all steps for the outside of your RV, but you should also focus on detailing the inside of your vehicle as well.

Interior Detailing

·
   Detail your engine

Here you will have to wet the area and then spray the degreaser so that it removes all the grease from the mirror backs, rocker panels and the wheel wells. You will then need to pressure rinse in the reverse order, then repeat the process as many times as needed to remove the whole grease.
·
   Shampooing

This process requires you to shampoo or steam the carpet, vacuum it and also shampoo the seats, a procedure that can differ based on the material. This helps you with the overall seat conditioning.
·

    Extra cleaning

The last portion of interior detailing requires you to focus on cleaning the cabinets, door panels, curtains and the living area, which will provide you with a much better RV as a whole.
