How To Donate Your Vehicle To Charity(Infographic)

How to Donate Your Vehicle to Charity
When it comes to helping your community, making donations to
charities is certainly a worthwhile and time-honored tradition. One of the most
interesting ways you can help out charities is by donating your vehicle. If you
have an older vehicle that is no longer useful to you and can be donated, the
result will not only help out the charity, but you can also use the transaction
as a tax deduction.
However, there are some speed bumps throughout the donation
process, so you will want to be fully informed about what to expect before you
donate your vehicle.
The Donation Process
Charities will either put the vehicle you donate to use or
sell it to raise money. Be aware that if they sell the vehicle, then your tax
deduction will be based on how much the vehicle goes for at the auction which may be far lower than its fair market value.
Value: If the vehicle you donate is worth more than $500,
then you’ll need to fill out IRS Form 8283 Section A. This must be filled out
with a written acknowledgement from the charity itself that stipulates whether
the car was sold and for what price or if it is being used by the charity
itself. If the value is $5,000 or more, you’ll need to have it appraised and
you’ll need to fill out Section B of IRS form 8283.
Receipt: You will need to get an official receipt from the
charity in order to verify your tax donation. This is important because this
type of donation is one that often triggers an IRS audit, so you’ll want your
tax records at the ready.
Remember that if the charity handles the entire transaction,
you can drive the vehicle there yourself so that they do not have to pay towing
charges.
How to Find the Right
Charity
You should always check out charities that accept car
donations and if it is eligible to accept tax deductible contributions as well.
At that point, you can then do a little more research to see if they are the
right ones for you.
Transaction:
If the charity handles the transaction of the sale itself, then it should keep
virtually 100% of the sale. However, if there is an intermediary organization,
then they can keep upwards of 50% or more which means that your donation may
only be a fraction of the full market value of the vehicle itself.
Percentage of
Proceeds: Arguably the most important question is how much of the proceeds
from the sale or auction actually goes to the cause they are supporting. It
should be a relatively high percentage otherwise most of the money will simply
sink into the coffers of the charity itself.
Reputation:
You should check out all charities to see if they follow all the rules and have
earned a good reputation in terms of applying most, if not mostly all the money
raised to their particular cause.
To find the best charity not only protects you, but it also ensures that the most amount of money raised by the auction or sale goes to the cause you wish to support.

The Takata Airbag Recall - How It May Effect You
Recently, more than 30 million vehicles made by 10 different
manufacturers were recalled into production because an airbag problem was
discovered. The airbags were created by the Takata Company, and they were
installed between 2002 and 2008 on a variety of vehicles, with some models
extending up to 2014. It seems that some of the Takata Airbag models had issues
that lead to injuries or other similar problems, mostly due to an explosion.
This recall is indeed a major issue, in fact it’s the largest
recall in the history of the automobile industry, and it’s all caused by a
problem in the airbag infiltrator. Simply put, each of the Takata Airbag models
that have been recalled includes a metal cartridge that, at its own turn, is
loaded with a few propellant wafers. This is what leads to the creation of the
explosive force, and the problem seems to be appearing during a crash, when the
metal shards included in the Takata Airbags are sprayed throughout the cabin causing
numerous injuries or even worse than that.
After a long investigation, it seems that there are multiple
causes that lead to the issue, such as the exposure to humidity or high heat, a
poor quality control and the bad design of the car which does lead to these
problems. All of these have created a lot of pressure for the car body and, as
such, the shards are spread in a very destructive, unnatural manner.
How to see if your
car is affected?
If you want to see if your model is recalled, then all you
have to do is to visit https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ as here you can find a
list with all of those cars that need to get back to the manufacturer in order
to remove this major issue.
A few of the manufacturers that seem to have trouble with
this issue include Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Subaru and General
Motors, among many others. Even Ford seems to have recalled no less than 477000
cars, something that’s unseen for the manufacturer.
How long does this
take?
Unfortunately, the process is indeed taking a lot of time, with
Takata saying that they will replace 1 million kits per month. Since more than 30
million cars were affected, one can imagine that this will take quite a while.
The first batches are already sent, with others being available shortly.
How are the repairs prioritized?
The manufacturers are sending the first batches specifically
to the humid areas first, as this is where most of the problems can be
encountered. You are bound to obtain your own airbag very soon, depending on
where you live, but you will need to contact the car manufacturer first.
In the meantime, all you can do is to take preventive
measures until you obtain the replacement. Minimize your driving or, if you
want to leave your car at home to stay safe, rent a car or utilize public
transportation. Wait until the manufacturer will contact you and, depending on
your location and other properties you might be able to get your car up and
running sooner rather than later. Sure, the Takata Airbag recall does affect many
vehicles, but on the other hand the company is working hard to provide replacements
for everyone, even if the whole replacement process might take a while! This article is brought to you by gAuto!

Review of 2016 Cаdіllас CTS-V
Thе CTS-V hаѕ always bееn seen as a kіnd оf four-door Chеvу
Cоrvеttе. The nеw CTS-V ties thе Vеttе соnnесtіоn еvеn tighter wіth an еngіnе

Texting While Driving: Is it Dangerous?
If you are in the habit of
texting while driving, it is just a matter of time before it catches up on you,
and the consequences can be quite devastating.
Over 61% of the US population
owns a smartphone. Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives, it’s
hard to imagine being without them. However, indiscriminate use of smartphones
pose significant safety risks, especially if one chooses to make phone calls,
or worse, check his or her text messages or apps while driving.
One startling fact is that at any time of the day, 660,000 drivers in the country use their phone in one way or another while still driving a vehicle. Smartphones help us stay connected all the time – but at what cost?
Let’s have a look at some of the stats that should make you reconsider using your phone while driving:
ü According to the National Safety Council cell phone
use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes a year.
ü As many as 330,000 injuries happen each year because
of accidents caused by people texting on their phone while driving.
ü You are 6 times more likely to be in an accident
because of texting and driving than due to driving drunk.
ü 25% of the car accidents in the US are caused by
texting and driving.
ü When you answer a text, that takes up 5 seconds of
your time. 5 seconds when travelling at 55 mph would be enough to cover the
distance of a football field.
ü When you text and drive, you are 400% times more
likely to spend time with eyes off the road.
ü Texting and driving is the most dangerous activity
related to the mobile phone, by far.
Teens are the worst offenders when it comes to texting and driving. Here are some pertinent Teen Driver Cell Phone Statistics:
ü Teen drivers are four times as likely to be involved
in an automobile accident as adults while using a cell phone.
ü 11 teens are killed every day because of texting while
driving.
ü 94% of teen drivers are aware of the dangers of
texting and driving, but 35% do it anyway.
ü Cell phones have been blamed for 21% of the fatal
accidents involving teen drivers.
According to the 2012 National Survey on Distracted Driving Attitudes and Behaviors:
ü 48 percent of drivers answer calls on their cell
phones while driving. Of those who did, 58% continued to drive even as
they spoke on the phone.
ü 24 percent said they were okay with making a call
while driving.
ü 10 percent said they sent text messages or emails
while driving and 14% admitted to reading text messages or emails while driving
as well.
According to the 2012 U.S. Cell Phone and Driving Statistics
ü 3,328 people in the United States were killed in accidents
related to distractions in 2012.
ü 421,000 people in the United States were injured in accidents
that involved a distracted driver in 2012
ü Of the drivers under the age of 20, 11% were involved
in fatal car accidents because of being distracted at the time of the crash.
ü 25 percent of teens in America text at least once
every time they drive, and 20 percent admit to sending multiple texts while
driving. 10 percent of parents admit to do the same as well.
If you text and drive, hopefully the facts listed here will make you stop doing such a dangerous action. If there is someone you know who texts and drives; be sure to share this article to them as well.

What a Car Made by Apple Could Mean to the Auto World
Apple products are all about
the joy of engineering. Since that day
in the early 80s when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak set up a phone line that
allowed them to make a free phone call to the Vatican, the makers and
discoverers and inventors at Apple have been creating usable products that have
changed the way the modern world thinks & works. It is in large part because of Apple that
handheld devices can store as much music as a bookshelf full of CDs and can help
you find the address and phone number of any place you want to go, no matter
where you are.
Think of how the iPhone
changed phones, and now imagine how a car made by Apple could change the auto
world. No one loved phones before the
iPhone debuted, but people definitely loved their cars. Cars represent the freedom of the open road,
and getting a driver’s license and borrowing your parents’ car for the first
time was an important rite of passage for generations of Americans. Perhaps you enjoy checking and refilling your
car’s fluids before a road trip, and you might even know someone who has
lovingly restored an old car. There is
probably a make of car that you encourage people to buy, and perhaps an
expensive car of your dreams that you will buy if you can ever afford it.
A car designed by Apple will
certainly be efficient and elegant. Its
computer system will run smoothly and have few to no glitches. Although it will be high-tech, it will not
rely on gimmicks; it will build on the touch-screen and voice-activated
technology that have made other Apple products so successful. If it is an electric car, it will be the most
affordable one yet.
Another trend in Apple’s
history is reviving ideas that seemed like lost causes and bringing things back
from the brink. Cars do not occupy the
esteemed place in American culture that they once did. They have gained the reputation as gas
guzzlers that pollute the air, deplete the ozone layer, and consume petroleum,
a non-renewable resource. Apple’s
engineers are experts at figuring out what are the enduring parts of struggling
industries; they do not follow new trends.
A car made by Apple would retain the feature of efficient travel, but it
would be easier to drive and park than existing cars. Its focus would be on simple elegance and
efficiency. This article was brought to you by gAuto!

Everything You Need To Know About The Tesla Model X
THE TESLA MODEL X
The Tesla Model X will be introduced
as a prototype crossover. It is the third electric model to be released by
Tesla after the Model S sedan and the 2 door Roadsters. The Model X will accommodate
up to seven passengers and promises to be more family friendly and functional
than the Model S. The soon to be revealed crossover has recently undergone test
runs in the streets of LA. And as far as looks go, the Model X inherits the
cabin and upswing falcon winged door concept which gives a beautiful and sporty
look to car. Many would say that this is the next step forward in electric car
technology and engineering.
MODEL
X FEATURES:
The Tesla Model X is more likely
a Model S that has been extended vertically. Its headlights, grille, general
contours and taillights are identical to the sedans’, with a central weight
that is lower than the average SUV, you will notice its’ beautiful reflexes at
every turn. It is even loaded with all their gears. However, the Model X offers key differences such
as forward facing third row seats and a set of rear falcon wing doors which make
the car appear even more radical. Tesla requires this pair of upward swinging
doors to provide optimal comfort to passengers stepping in and out of the
second and third row seats. The setup is mostly artifice. The Model X is family
demand: extremely durable, they are ready to hamper with the loading of
children. It is soon to be the most sporty family vehicle on the market, and
capable of conveniently and comfortably seating seven passengers. The company
has also replaced the side mirrors with video cameras that look fabulous. The
Model X is the greenest and most efficient SUV to transport your friends or
family.
AN
ELECTRIC CROSSOVER:
As similar as the Model X is to
the S, the Model X is more than skin deep. The Model X may be furnished with
crossover fundamental all wheel drive. Its standard drive structure mirrors that
of S, but with an additional front mounted motor power axle on the all-wheel
drive models, with rear mounted and single electric motor driving the rear
wheels. With the all-wheel drive system, the X Model can catch traction and
difference between the two axles and power apportions. Same as the Model S, Model
X is giving sporty performance. Not to mention it’s able to hit 60 mile per hour in less than five seconds.
Model X buyers now will be able
to select between two battery capacities. One is of 85-k WH unit and the other
is of 60k WH pack. It is the safer and secure car to drive and less aerodynamic
than the Model S.
PRICE
OF TESLA MODEL X:
The price of Model X has not yet
been officially announced. The Tesla chief executive officer recently stated in
his interview that the company is planning to put the Model X on sale in July. More
than 20,000 people have invested a $5000 deposit for this new car.

7 Steps To Buying A New Or Used Car
If you are reading this you are obviously thinking of buying a new car, and are not quite sure of
what to prepare for. Things like what kind of paperwork you would need, or what
exact specifications you want. Here are the seven most important steps you
should follow before signing anything.
1. Do
ample research.
If
you are not sure about the color, the model, the payments or simply the type
of car that would suit you, read some reviews from experts, make detailed
search, or consult someone that has knowledge of mechanics and anything that
goes in the package. Expand your horizons, be sure to keep an open mind for
everything.
2. Do
some calculations, and figure out how much you can afford.
Often,
when you buy a new car you can negotiate the price. However, before you go out
and buy it, make sure that you have enough money. Secure yourself financially with
a loan from a bank so you get more power in the negotiations. If you do that,
you will have extra money for the taxes and fees, which usually come with the
purchase.
3. Understand
all the expenses that will come with the new car
So,
let’s say that you have chosen what kind of car you want to buy. Now, the next
thing you should do is to check how much money for gas will you need per month
or week (take note that there are cars that use much more than others), also
check how much will the basic repairs cost (for example oil change, broken
headlights, repainting, or even interior design changes like car seats etc..),
check how much will and insurance will cost you, and also, the most important-
maintenance.
4. Know
what you can get with your money
There
are many different car types and models, and yet they cost almost the same.
Check out all the possible options when you research, find out what kind of
specifications the car has to offer, and compare between vehicles. You want to
be sure to the best for your money. Ask the car salesman, because that is their
job, to explain what you get in each package. Do not be wooed our convinced merely
by external design. Often, many cars that seem perfect from the outside, but
have lousy interior, spend way too much gas, and they are not that fast.
5. Take
it on a test drive
Before
you sign anything, take the car you have chosen, or the one you like out on a
long drive. Right there, behind the wheel you can feel if the car is for you or
not. Make it long, not some ten minute drive, because buying a car is a big
deal, and you don’t just buy stuff like that every week. Make sure that you
feel comfortable in it, and that you are not rushing into such big decision.
66. Read
the terms and conditions twice before signing
Sometimes,
in a rush, you sign anything that is handed to you without reading. If possible
take the papers at home and study them thorough. Often, in
those contracts there are lines that are written in smaller letters saying that
something is wrong or missing in the product for example some kind of scratch,
something in the warranty, or some kind of bug in the alarm system. Read
everything carefully, and then proceed with signing the contract.
7. Take
delivery of your car
As
much as you are excited about your new car, take a ride before taking it home
with the salesman. That person is trained to show you how everything works, and
also gives you tips about the maintenance, or simply about the inside
technology like GPS, Bluetooth etc..

How To Sell Your Car [Get The Most Out Of Your Car Sale]
Well, there are many things to consider in order to prepare your vehicle before you sell it and ensure that you will get more responses to your advertisements and a high amount of exposure to potential car buyers. As with most things in life, you will never get an opportunity for a second chance at making a first impression, so you must do everything that you can in order to impress your buyers when presenting your car.
When
it comes to mechanical matters, you should be sure that everything is in good condition
before you sell it since your potential buyer will surely call you out if there
are signs of damage to your car. Aside from that, you must also be proficient
in selling your car. A good talk and persuasive speech to your potential buyer
can guarantee that your car will be purchased at a high price. So, if you
really want to sell your car at its’ highest price, visit a mechanic for some
checking and fixing. It is much better to find out earlier if your car has any
severe defects in order to repair it. Visit www.gAuto.com to book an appointment with an auto specialist today! They come straight to your
door at your convenience and do all the pre-inspecting and mechanical work on

Lastly,
the cleanliness of your car is the most important aspect to be
considered. Washing your car quickly before presentation is not enough. Many
car buyers are heavily influenced by the first sight/impression of the vehicle.
You must perform an interior and exterior detail in order for your car to look
brand new for your potential buyer and get the absolute most that you can out
of your individual sale.
Listed
below are some procedures that you can follow to clean your car. Here as follows:
- Begin to remove all unnecessary things in your car. You have to ensure that you leave your car empty.
- Next, vacuum the floors and seats of your car as well as the rear and front. Vacuum around and under the floor mats in case you have them. If your floor mats look worn out, try to wash them with a carpet shampoo or if you want, provide a new one.
- Ensure to wash the entire windows until they become shiny in the outside and inside. Actually, newspapers can be used to clean the windows.
- As much as possible, take away any tar and bugs. You can buy a product that can eliminate all of these insects at a cost-effective price.
- Carefully wax and wash your car.
- Finally, polish the tires and wheels and put a blackener to provide the tires with a beautiful glossy look.
By
performing all of these cleaning procedures thoroughly and effectively, you can
guarantee that your car will be purchased at its’ optimal price. If your schedule
is tight, or if you have never done this before and would like a professional
do it, visit www.gAuto.com to book an
